At noon on 16th November, the academic lecture given by Professor Shen Jiancheng was held as scheduled in the School of Finance. The theme of this forum is Does Mind Matter? Mental Health and Asset (Consumption) Allocation.


Shen Jiancheng, distinguished professor of Finance and doctoral supervisor of Dongwu Business School of Suzhou University, shared his working paper. Professor Shen Jiancheng has taught courses in financial management, international finance, international business, microeconomics, introduction to economics, introduction to business and Bloomberg database at Taylor University, Regent University and Old Dominion University in the United States. His research fields are financial economy, behavioral finance and financial technology.


Fan Xiaoyun, executive vice president of the School of Finance, attended and presided over the event. College leaders, teachers and students actively participated and the classroom was full of audience.

Professor Shen Jiancheng introduced the theme of the lecture - Does Mind Matter? Mental Health and Asset (Consumption) Allocation. Firstly, Professor Shen introduced the research background and references about health in the field of asset pricing. Then he explains the purpose and importance of this theoretical research. Mental health is divided into macro factors and micro factors. Macro factors include the social and psychological pressure caused by COVID-19. Micro factors include personal mental health. Macro factors and micro factors affect investors' asset allocation decisions respectively. After that, Professor Shen Jiancheng introduced in details the establishment of simplified model and full scale model applied in the research and the factors in the model. Finally, Professor Shen told us the preliminary conclusions of the research and what contribution he could make in asset allocation.

During the exchange activities, the teachers and students here raised questions from time to time. The forum had a lively atmosphere and achieved rich research results.
