Recently, to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and to further strengthen the construction of the university library staff in the new era, the Tianjin Higher Education Literature Information Center (TALIS) hosted the inaugural Tianjin University Library Chinese Cataloging Skills Competition.

The theme of this competition was “Meticulous Cataloging, Empowering High-Quality Development of Libraries,” focusing on professional theoretical knowledge and practical skills in Chinese cataloging. A total of 39 cataloging librarians from 19 undergraduate institutions, including our university, participated in the competition. Among the participants, our youngest member, Cang Biqian from the Ningyi Hongdao Library, achieved the remarkable distinction of winning first prize.

Ningyi Hongdao Library is the data room of the School of Finance, established on October 17, 2017, with a donation of 5 million yuan from Wang Jingjun, an alumnus from the 1999 Finance class. The library houses over 14,000 books and serves as a multifunctional academic platform integrating collection, reading, teaching, and communication. Ningyi Hongdao Library has consistently strived to provide high-quality cataloging data to facilitate the extensive faculty and student body in their literature information retrieval and consultation. Moving forward, the library will continuously enhance its document resource construction and service capabilities, providing superior literature information support for the college’s disciplinary development and talent cultivation.
