On November 30, 2023, Secretary-General of the China Insurance Association and Editor-in-Chief of “Insurance Research”, Huang Zhiqiang, along with Deputy Director of the Editorial Department, Shi Min, and Assistant Director of the Editorial Department, Meng Huixin, visited the School of Finance for a research symposium. The event was attended by Zhang Yao, Secretary of the School of Finance Party Committee, Zhang Lianzeng, Director of the Actuarial Science Department, Professor Chen Xiaowei from the Actuarial Science Department, Associate Professor Sun Jiamei, Associate Professor Zhao Yang from the Insurance Research Institute, Lecturer Lv Youji, and over 30 graduate students from the Risk Management and Insurance Department and the Actuarial Science Department. The symposium was chaired by Chen Lu, Director of the Insurance Department at the School of Finance.
Zhang Yao warmly welcomed the delegation from the China Insurance Association’s “Insurance Research” editorial team and introduced the basic situation and development characteristics of the School of Finance’s insurance and actuarial disciplines. He pointed out that as traditional disciplines of strength at Nankai University, over the past 40 years, these disciplines have trained a large number of outstanding talents for the country. As a pioneer in the integrated development of insurance and actuarial disciplines, Nankai University will continue to support the construction of these two disciplines. He hoped that this research symposium with the “Insurance Research” editorial team would serve as an opportunity to deepen mutual exchanges and cooperation in talent cultivation, discipline construction, and social services, promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the School of Finance and the “Insurance Research” editorial team.
Huang Zhiqiang engaged in in-depth discussions with the attending faculty and students on the current publication status, topic ideas, and review process. He first introduced the development status and editorial orientation of “Insurance Research” and “Insurance Theory and Practice”, summarizing current issues in the insurance industry from four perspectives: insurance principles, environment and institutions, insurance operations, and insurance regulation. He proposed relevant topic suggestions and considerations. Finally, he detailed the review process and principles for submissions to “Insurance Research”.
During the interactive session, faculty and students interacted with the China Insurance Association’s “Insurance Research” editorial team on topics such as research directions, preferences for manuscript reviews, and acceptance rates, fostering a lively atmosphere. It is understood that this research symposium aims to strengthen the exchange and cooperation between the School of Finance at Nankai University and the China Insurance Association’s “Insurance Research” editorial team, enhancing the research perspectives of faculty and students, strengthening the academic atmosphere, and making beneficial explorations to jointly promote the high-quality development of the national insurance industry.
