In 2023, students from the School of Finance at Nankai University strived forward with perseverance, showcasing outstanding achievements in academic research, scientific innovation, volunteer service, cultural and sports activities, social practice, and student work. To highlight exemplary deeds, display the elegance of finance students, set role models, and inspire all students to develop, the “Golden Youth, Shining Nankai” – School of Finance 2023 Outstanding Students Awards Ceremony was held on December 7th in the main auditorium of the Western Business Building. Attendees included Party Secretary Zhang Yao, Youth League Secretary Li Zhengchun, representative academic advisors of the 2022 Elite Academic Class Zhang Xiaolin, 2023 Class 2 advisor Dai Wenting, and all counselors. The ceremony was hosted by Wang Xiaojuan, with over a thousand teachers and students participating in the main venue, sub-venues, and online.

At the awards ceremony, Zhang Yao, Li Zhengchun, Zhang Xiaolin, Dai Wenting, Tang Lin, and Lv Peifan presented certificates and trophies to the representatives of the awarded student teams and outstanding individual winners.

Outstanding student representatives, including Zhou Xu, winner of the Chinese College Students Self-improvement Scholarship and Nankai University’s Person of the Year, Wang Xiaomeng and Hu Jinyu, top ten pre-evaluated candidates for the Zhou Enlai Scholarship of Nankai University and Excellent Students of Tianjin City, Han Xiaoyu, model Communist Youth League member and top ten volunteer, and Xiao Yinxin, representative of the top ten social practice teams, showcased their individual and team styles on stage.

Zhang Xiaolin, speaking as a class advisor representative, praised the students for their courageous exploration on the path of self-discovery, fundamentally honing their character and skills. She expressed her commitment to continuing to support the students’ growth, encouraging them to learn from the awardees, be kind, diligent, wise, physically strong, and well-rounded, becoming pillars capable of adapting to a changing society.

In his speech, Zhang Yao congratulated the awarded individuals and teams, affirming the youthfulness exhibited by the winners across multiple dimensions such as virtue, intellect, physique, aesthetics, and labor. Zhang Yao emphasized that the baton of national development and rejuvenation has historically fallen on our generation. He hoped that students would take the outstanding representatives as role models in their future studies and life, draw strength from historical anecdotes, develop comprehensively in multiple fields, and grow into idealistic, skilled, and responsible youth who contribute to national development.

President Xi Jinping pointed out, “There are many ways to learn from exemplary figures. The key is to learn their spirit, qualities, and methods.” Finance students will continue to learn from role models, strive to become role models, aspire to excellence, forge ahead, and write a more brilliant new chapter in their university journey.
