In the recently concluded “Top Ten Singers - New Sounds of Joy” competition, our undergraduate students Liu Kehan and Lin Shengwei were honored with the title of “Top Ten Singers of Nankai University” for their exquisite singing skills and unique styles. This recognition not only acknowledges their singing prowess but also affirms their relentless effort and pursuit of musical dreams.
Liu Kehan won third place with a passionate performance of “Mayila Variations”, earning thunderous applause from the audience. The song’s high-pitched and intense melody, combined with the singer’s heartfelt rendition, deeply moved everyone present.
Lin Shengwei secured the ninth place with his rendition of “She Li Duan”. The song’s emotional lyrics and Lin Shengwei’s distinctive voice captivated the listeners, immersing them in the world of his performance.
After the competition, both students shared their thoughts.
Liu Kehan said, “Looking back, I participated in each competition with the mindset of leaving no regrets. I reunited with mentors who appreciated me, met old friends, made new friends, and encountered amazing competitors and partners. Returning to the finals, I felt emotional. Each song I sang was a reunion and farewell with the top ten. Time flies, and now I’m in my senior year. The answers I had been seeking have gradually become clear. The stage lights were warm, and I realized I’ve always loved singing. There will always be someone who listens with their heart to the songs from my soul. I am grateful for the top ten; it is a unique sense of fulfillment.”
Lin Shengwei, who won the “Top Ten Singers” title for two consecutive years, expressed, “Standing on the top ten stage again this year, I enjoyed the stage and the music even more than last year. I hope to bring performances that everyone likes and I enjoy. Bringing strength and happiness to people through my singing is what I find most fulfilling. Receiving support and appreciation from friends, whether I know them or not, is the happiest and most meaningful moment in my singing journey. I hope to continue shining on stage in the future.”
