The results of the 2023 Baosteel Education Awards have been announced, and Professor Fan Xiaoyun from our school has been awarded the Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award.
Baosteel Education Foundation, originally established in 1990 as the Baosteel Scholarship funded by Baosteel, renamed as Baosteel Education Foundation in 1994, and officially registered as Baosteel Education Foundation by the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 2005. The foundation, supported by government guidance and expert consultation, aims to promote educational development through awards that recognize outstanding talent, emphasize the importance of respecting teachers, encourage industry-academia cooperation, and support educational endeavors.
Professor Fan Xiaoyun has dedicated 28 years to teaching and research, consistently at the forefront of education. With a focus on ideological and political education, student cultivation, and dedicated research, Professor Fan has achieved remarkable results. He has previously been honored with awards such as the Tianjin Teaching Excellence Award, the Tianjin Education System’s “Frontline Pioneer of Teachers”, and the Tianjin “May 1st” Labor Award. Professor Fan is the head of the nationally renowned undergraduate course “International Finance” and has made significant contributions to the development of new liberal arts disciplines. He has led Ministry of Education research and reform projects and received the Tianjin Excellent Teaching Achievement Award for his efforts in curriculum ideological education. Professor Fan has also published over 80 papers in high-quality journals like “Economic Research” and “Management World”, focusing on innovative research in the intrinsic characteristics and institutional specifics of China’s systemic financial risks, risk measurement methods, crisis management, debt resolution, and dynamic forward-looking measurement and regulation of financial risks using interdisciplinary approaches.
This recognition underscores Professor Fan Xiaoyun’s outstanding contributions to education and research, further enhancing the reputation of Nankai University’s School of Finance.
