Recently, the Tianjin 2023 Financial Knowledge into Campus Video Open Class Competition, jointly organized by the Municipal Education Commission, Municipal Public Security Bureau, Municipal Finance Bureau, and Municipal Civil Affairs Office, successfully concluded. The theme of the competition was “Preventing Financial Risks and Enhancing Financial Literacy,” focusing on preventing illegal fundraising, campus loans, fraudulent loans, and other illegal financial activities and scams. It adhered to precise prevention and problem-oriented approaches, tailored to the psychological characteristics of university students and faculty. The competition utilized forms such as legal interpretation, typical case studies, and investment risk education to analyze criminal methods, promote financial knowledge, guide students and faculty to effectively identify risks, cultivate correct financial management concepts, and enhance their ability to prevent risks. Several teachers from the School of Finance at Nankai University participated in the competition and achieved excellent results.
The competition officially started on November 1st this year, and upon receiving the notification, the School of Finance actively organized the registration process. Teachers were recommended by various departments and the school’s party and administrative leadership. Dean Fan Xiaoyun convened a mobilization meeting for all participating teachers, explaining the significance of participating in the competition and setting forth expectations and hopes. In the end, eight teachers from the school completed the video recording. The organization of the competition received strong support from the university’s Security Department.
After the evaluation, Mr. Li Xiangliang’s work “Ponzi Scheme: Principles, Cases, and Applications” from our college won the first prize; Mr. Li Zeguang and Mr. Li Zhengchun’s work “Beware of Virtual Currency Traps, Say No to ‘Get Rich Quick’ Scams” and Ms. Lv Youji’s work “Such ‘Loan’ Pricing” won the second prize; Ms. Ge Shuyi’s work “Financial Knowledge into Campus: Illegal Fundraising Activities in Schools” received an honorable mention. Nankai University and 10 other universities were recognized as outstanding organizing units.
This event is an important measure by the Municipal Education Commission, Municipal Public Security Bureau, Municipal Finance Bureau, and Municipal Civil Affairs Office to deeply study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, implement the Central Financial Work Conference, and accelerate the construction of a strong financial country to prevent and resolve risks. The competition aims to safeguard financial security, promote correct financial consumption concepts, guide students, faculty, and staff to acquire financial knowledge through proper channels, effectively raise awareness of risk prevention and identification, and create a green, healthy, and safe campus financial environment.
