Recently, Tianjin TV recorded an episode of the “Everyone Talks Theory” program at the Ningyi Hongdao Study Room of Nankai University’s School of Finance. The episode, which aired last night on Tianjin TV’s news channel, was themed “Youth Towards the Party, Embracing Responsibilities” and featured discussions with Professor Xiao Guangwen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee at the School of Marxism, and Dr. Yan Zhenhua, Associate Researcher and Young Academic Leader at the School of Chemistry, as well as Chairman of Tianjin Changxing Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd. They explored how young students can shoulder the responsibility of national rejuvenation in the new era and promote technological innovation and social development. 

Master’s student Lu Fangyu (2023), undergraduate Liang Lei (2022), and undergraduate Xiang Sijin (2023) from the School of Finance participated in the recording.

Recently, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of ideological and political education in schools, noting that the new era and new journey present new conditions and tasks that require fresh vigor and innovation. In the elegant setting of the Nanyi Hongdao Study Room, faculty and students completed a vivid ideological and political lesson.

Professor Xiao reflected on General Secretary Xi’s instruction during his visit to Nankai University: “Only by integrating the self into the larger collective can one possess a heart as vast as the ocean and a lofty spirit like the mountains.” He encouraged contemporary students to align their personal aspirations with the destiny of the nation, contributing to the modernization and revitalization of China through their efforts. Dr. Yan shared insights on the promising applications and strategic significance of sodium-ion batteries, recounting his steadfast belief in facing challenges in scientific research, and encouraged students to actively engage in technological innovation.

During the program, finance students actively asked questions. Liang Lei inquired about how students from humanities and social sciences can better integrate their personal goals with national strategies for technological advancement. Lu Fangyu asked about balancing the roles of scientist and entrepreneur. Both experts provided profound answers, highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary research focused on practical applications.

The recording of this episode of “Everyone Talks Theory” provided students with a platform to gain a deeper understanding of national policies and the themes of the times, igniting their passion for patriotism and commitment to national rejuvenation. It showcased the excellent learning environment and vibrant spirit of the students at the School of Finance.
