From September 2nd to 3rd, 546 new undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students from all over the country stepped into Nankai University, marking the commencement of their journey as the newest members of Nankai Finance,They will immerse themselves in finance knowledge, developskills, undero training and grow together at the School of Finance in the future.

On the registration day, the “Entrance Arch” and the red carpet carefully decorated by the School symbolized a fresh start at Nankai Finance. As new students arrived at the registration point, the volunteers provided considerate and thoughtful services, handling the check-in procedures and distributingwelcome gifts. The new students signed on the signature board, took pictures with the school mascots, Xiao Jin and Xiao Rong, leaving a colorful mark for the beginning of their brand-new learning journey.

During the registration period, President Chen Yulu visited the School togreet the new students. Engaging in warm conversations, President Chen asked, “Are you adapting well to Tianjin?” and assured parents, “Rest assured, entrust your children to us.”As it was the birthday of some new students on that day, the President, along with faculty and students present,extended birthday wishes, saying, “Wish the new students loyalty to the country, love for Nankai, and studying for the rise of China.” President Chenleft messages of encouragement to the new Nankai financiers in the message area.

At the welcoming site, the School gave full play to the leadership role of student Communist Party members: Establish a Party member vanguard post in front of the “One-Stop” Growth Community in the 10th student dormitory, where they answered questions from the new students, provided guidance services, and prepared supplies like medicines, water, and breadfor new students and their parents; Set up a Party member vanguard post at the centralized registration point, where they explained the policy of joining the Party to the new students.

The School also carried out special welcoming activities, guiding students and their parents to visit the School and the campus. Stamp collection check-points were set upat various locations such as the culture wall, Ningyi Hongdao Book Pavilion, lecture hall and “Gardening Aids the Heart” courtyard.The stamp patterns involve elements like the “Firm, Courage, Stability and Salience spirit of National South-West Associated University (NSAU), and Zhang Boling’s words. The student party members also popularized the history of Nankai University and the development of disciplines for the new students. After collecting all the stamps, the new students could write their expectations and goals for their future study life on a card,and hang it in the courtyard message area, which will be preserved in the School and distributed to everyoneduring the first quality assessment class meeting as a review and test of their first year of college life.

In the afternoon of the registration day, the School leaders, department heads, undergraduate class advisors of year 2023, and counselors visited the dormitories of the new students one by one to understand their accommodation conditions, inquire about their difficulties and needs, and advised them to adapt to the university life as soon as possible and make necessary preparations for it.

The college also held a parents’ meeting of undergraduate new students, in which leaders of the School introduced its history, undergraduate teaching and training plans, and the student management and growth system to the parents. This helped them to understand Nankai and the School of Finance, and guided new students to adapt to the university study life quickly, forming a collaborative effort betweenthe family and the school in nurturing students.

In the future, the School will focus on themes such as university and School history, media literacy of students, career planning, mental health, research ethics and academic norms, and disciplinary rules awareness. It will carry out a series of new student orientation activities to help new students better navigate their future study and life.
