From September 6 to 11, Wang Xiaojuan, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School of Finance of Nankai University and National Level II Psychological Counselor, along with counselor Zhu Zhixin conducted a group psychological counseling session entitled Hello, New Students for over 260 undergraduate freshmen from six classes of the Class of 2023. The event aimed to helped new students quickly adapt to the environment, promote interpersonal communication, enhance the sense of belonging and class cohesion. Simultaneously, interactive games were employed to assist freshmen in mastering simple and effective psychological adjustment methods, guiding their attention to their own mental state, cultivating a positive and optimistic mindset, and enhancing their psychological immunity.
The group counseling kicked off with laughter and cheers, featuring activities like Big Wind Blows, creating a lively atmosphere. In the game of finding peers, students interacted, exchanged signatures, and memorized more names and smiling faces. During the relaxation training demonstration, students closed their eyes to feel the relaxation of every muscle in their body, learning simple and effective psychological adjustment techniques. In the Mind Painting session, group members relayed to draw, experiencing both unexpected surprises and moments of confusion. Students expressed their admiration for creativity, imagination, and acknowledged the diversity of thoughts and “everyone has their own view”. At the same time, they also planted the seed for goal-setting and planning in their minds. The Strengths Bombardment session brought the atmosphere to a climax again, and the meticulous observations and sincere praises made each student feel rejuvenated and refreshing.

In the joyful ambience, the group counseling activity drew a successful conclusion. It is reported that the School of Finance will continue to organize diverse mental health education activities through the Level II Psychological Counseling Station, including guardian training, psychological book club, gardening assistance, stress relief workshop, film viewing, psychological drama, ensuring comprehensive support for students' mental health.
