Recently, on the occasion of the fifth “May 15th National Investor Protection Awareness Day,” Nankai University’s School of Finance, in collaboration with Tianhong Fund, co-hosted the “Investor Education at Nankai” science popularisation activity. The highlight of the event was a keynote lecture titled “Framework of Prudent Financial Management” delivered by Xiong Jun, Deputy General Manager and Chief Economist of Tianhong Fund Management Co., Ltd. The event was attended by Liu Haitao, Chief of the Inspection Division of Tianjin Securities Regulatory Bureau; Ning Hua, Fourth-Level Researcher of the Investor Protection Division of Tianjin Securities Regulatory Bureau; Tong Jianlin, Chief Inspector of Tianhong Fund Management Co., Ltd., Fan Xiaoyun, Executive Deputy Dean of the School of Finance; Zhang Qingyuan, Member of the Party Committee; Yuan Fang, Secretary of the Youth League Committee; and over two hundred students. The event was presided over by Liu Lanbiao, Deputy Dean of the School of Finance, and was organized by the Rongtong Talent Base Society of Nankai University.
In her address, Fan Xiaoyun introduced the background of the “One Bureau, One Province, One University” initiative by the Asset Management Association of China. She reviewed the collarborative efforts of the Nankai Finance team with Tianhong Fund during the first National Fund Knowledge Competition for College Students, where they navigated through multiple rounds of challenges and achieved outstanding results. Fan Xiaoyun expressed the hope that this event would serve as a catalyst for fostering deeper cooperation between the two parties under the guidance and support of the Tianjin Securities Regulatory Bureau. She underscored the constructive role of this collaboration in “promoting correct investment concepts, cultivating high-quality financial talent, and contributing to the high-quality development of the public fund industry and the capital market.”
In his speech, Liu Haitao stated that the Tianjin Securities Regulatory Bureau has consistently maintained a robust cooperative relationship with Nankai University’s School of Finance in domains such as scientific research, teaching, and practical applications. He acknowledged the investor education activities orchestrated by Tianhong Fund and Nankai University. He expressed his hope that students would consolidate their financial knowledge and expand their investment experience through the keynote lecture, striving to become innovative financial professionals of the new era.
During his lecture, Xiong Jun elaborated on the notion that investment and wealth management have entered a new era. Investors need to effectively identify the main risks faced in the wealth management process, pinpointing the control of volatility risk as a primary task of investment and wealth management. Subsequently, Xiong Jun, from the dual perspectives of financial investors and investment managers, expounded on the framework of prudent financial management. He pointed out that investors need to balance their risk tolerance with their return objectives when selecting investment targets and also highlighted the considerations that investment managers need to address.
During the interactive Q&A session that ensued, Xiong Jun patiently and meticulously answered the questions posed by the students. Through this lecture, the students gained a more systematic understanding of the framework of prudent financial management, deepened their knowledge of the industry, and clarified their future development direction.窗体顶端
On the day of the event, the Rongtong Talent Base Society of Nankai University, in collaboration with Tianhong Fund’s Investor Education Base, organized science popularization activities such as “Fund Companies Talk About Retirement Planning,” “Fully Embracing the Registration System,” “Preventing Financial Fraud,” and “Preventing Illegal Fundraising.” These activities took place at the School of Finance and in front of the Liberal Arts Canteen at Nankai University’s Jinnan Campus. Engagements like leaving on-site messages, scanning QR codes to answer questions, distributing brochures, and giving out gifts were incorporated to disseminate financial knowledge and build a platform for in-depth communication between students and professionals in the fund industry. Volunteer students from the School of Finance also went to the First Middle School of Balitai Town in Jinnan District to popularize knowledge about currency and financial management. They distributed brochures on strategies for preventing financial fraud to the middle school students, aiming to enhance the awareness and ability of the students to guard against financial fraud.
