On April 17th, the Mentors' Appointment Training Lecture for the Eighth Industry Research Competition was held in the 201 lecture hall of the School of Finance. Prof. Qin Jiaqi, director of the Corporate Finance Research Center of the School of Finance and doctoral supervisor, was invited to give a lecture on the theme of Researching Logic and Precautions in the Industry Research, Yuan Fang, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the School of Finance, presided over the lecture. More than one hundred teachers and students from different colleges of Nankai University participated in the lecture.
Yuan Fang welcomed the students and teachers, recognized the students’ enthusiasm of participation, and announced that 97 teams from 14 colleges had participated in the eighth competition, which was a record high. Yuan Fang expressed her gratitude to Prof. Qin Jiaqi for his support and guidance for the competition and called on students to promote learning, practice and progress through competition, to conduct in-depth research on the development of industries, and to enhance their research ability and core competitiveness by participating in the competition.
Prof. Qin Jiaqi started the lecture with the discussion on What kind of financial talents we need to cultivate in the 2nd China Financial Frontier Forum, pointing out that the non-financial industrial background of financial talents is becoming more and more important, and the Industry Research Competition sets up a platform for developing their industrial background. Then, Qin Jiaqi analyzed why it is necessary to combine macro and micro in the writing of a industry research report, how to combine them, and how to converse our logic. He also mentioned some notes gained from the previous competitions. These contents let students have a clearer understanding of how to evaluate the economic cycle so as to make the choice of industry researched, how to reasonably and efficiently screen the industry, as well as the analytical content and details of writing when creating an excellent industry research report.
In the discussion session, Qin Jiaqi thoroughly answered the questions encountered by the students on the timeliness in industry and company analysis, and gave the corresponding recommendations. The students said that they have reaped tremendous benefits from it..
The eighth Industry Research Competition of Nankai University will continue to adhere to the tenet of promote learning, practice and progress through competition. It will set up training and guidance, roadshow defense, professional commentaries, and a number of other sessions to encourage Nankai students to understand and research on the industries deeply, to cultivate the vast number of Nankai students of the abilities to investigate and research, and to enhance the core competitiveness of the students.
