On May 12, 2022, the School of Finance held a training seminar on “Tutor Appointment” and “Industry Research Competition”. Jiaqi Qin, a professor of the Department of Applied Finance, doctoral supervisor and Director of the Corporate Finance Research Center, gave a speech on The logic of industry analysis combining macro and micro - no comparison, no harm. Xiaojuan Wang, Deputy Secretary of the Youth League Committee of the College and Secretary General of the Graduate Student Association, presided over the meeting, which more than 300 students and teachers attended online.

Jiaqi Qin introduced the main content of the lecture with the discussion of Huawei’s Hubble Investment, and shared with the students from four aspects of industry research report writing: why to combine macro and micro, how to combine, logic conversion and some considerations in the competition, so that the students can have a better understanding of how to judge the economic cycle to determine the industry selection, how to reasonably and efficiently conduct specific industry screening and the high quality analysis and writing details required for an excellent equity research report. During the interactive communication, Jiaqi Qin gave detailed answers and suggestions on the problems encountered by the students in constructing macro research framework and research logic, who said they learned and benefited a lot.

The 7th Industry Research Competition of Nankai University was hosted by the School of Finance of Nankai University, supported by the Memorial Fund of Professor Guoqing Chen, and organized by the Graduate Student Association of the School of Finance and the Student Extracurricular Activities Guidance Center. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the resumption of financial education in Nankai University, this competition will continue to adhere to the purpose of “learning, practicing and promoting through competition”, encouraging students of Nankai University to deepen their professional knowledge and understanding, enhance their ability to research the development of the industry, practice the school motto of Strict Standard and Sufficient Effort and improve their core competitiveness. It is reported that more than 200 students from different majors and grades of Nankai University actively signed up and participated in the competition.
