On the evening of January 29, the second phase of "Tao Li Forum" lecture series and "Zero Distance Model" outstanding alumni sharing activity jointly launched by the Undergraduate Teaching Office of School of Finance and Student Career Development Center were successfully held. Gong Jialin, a graduate of Nankai University majoring in Insurance in 2018, gave a wonderful speech on "Overseas PhD Study and Academic Research Sharing." Liu Wei, Vice Dean of School of Finance, Ji Fang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice dean, Wang Xiaojuan and Tang Lin, Secretary-General of Students Career Development Center, Hao Ren, counselor, and more than 200 students participated in the activity.

Before the lecture, Liu Wei introduced the basic situation of Gong Jialin's alumni. She expressed her sincere gratitude to Jialin for her active attention to the development of Nankai Finance Institute, her keen attention to the students who were on lockdown due to the epidemic, her active participation in the "Tao Li Forum" activities, and for doing her best for the college. She hoped that the majority of students would actively participate in the series of activities of the forum, expand their knowledge and vision, and prepare for future development of knowledge and skills.

Wang Xiaojuan introduced the series of brand activities of the College Career Development Center, including the "Zero Distance Model" activity, which provides a platform for outstanding alumni and students to communicate and interact with each other, aiming to help students learn from the growth experience of alumni. Wang Xiaojuan encouraged students to ask their alumni questions in order to inspire their own personal career planning.

Based on her experience of studying for a PhD in Economics at the University of Glasgow, Gong Jialin analyzed the two sides of choosing an academic path and introduced the main differences between doctoral and undergraduate studies. For students who were interested in academic research, Gong Jialin shared the basic methods to improve their academic ability and explained the research design and writing skills of her doctoral thesis as an example.

In the interactive communication part, Gong Jialin gave detailed answers to the students' questions on thesis writing, higher education development planning, etc., and shared many practical study skills, which benefited the students a lot.

Ji Fang expressed her gratitude to Gong Jialin's alumni for sharing her experiences to the students. She counted on the brand activity of the Student Career Development Center, most especially, "Zero Distance”, as a major platform for interaction, and hoped that she would continue to invite Gong Jialin alumni to share in academic research, career planning, etc. in the future. She believed it would effectively improve the students' academic research level and career planning ability.

"Tao Li Forum" is a series of lectures jointly launched by the Undergraduate Teaching Office of the School of Finance, the College Career Development Center and the Youth League Committee Student Extracurricular Activities Guidance Center for undergraduate groups. The event focuses on professional theoretical study and industry practice, academic guidance, and alumni career development sharing, etc. It effectively combines the needs of undergraduates' learning and practice to comprehensively help students grow and develop.
