Concentric Fight Against the Epidemic | The Third Session of the "Tao Li Forum" Lecture Series of the School of Finance was Successfully Held.

On the afternoon of February 6, the third session of the "Tao Li Forum" series of lectures of the School of Finance was successfully held. Professor Li Quan, Director of the Institute of Finance and Doctoral supervisor of the School of Finance, presented an academic lecture titiled: "China's Development under the Anticipation of Global Recession and Barriers - A Long-term Analysis Based on Global Financial Markets". He expounded the current evolution of global economic development, China's future development path and the optimal solution for reform and development at this stage. Liu Wei, Deputy Dean of the College, Ji Fang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Dean, Wang Xinnan of the Undergraduate Teaching Office, Hao, the instructor of the Student Extracurricular Activities Guidance Center of the Youth League Committee of the College, and more than 100 teachers and students participated in the activity.

Before the lecture, Liu Wei extended the New Year greetings of the Year of the tiger to all the teachers and students and shared the folk customs of sending away the old poverty and hardships and welcoming a better life in the new year on the sixth day of the first lunar month. Liu Wei introduced to the students the academic achievements and contributions of the speaker, Professor Li Quan, in economic development, fiscal policy and financial industry development. Ji Fang expressed her gratitude to Professor Li Quan for her strong support and hoped that teachers and students would actively participate in the first academic activity of the Year of the Tiger and strive for more gains in the new year.


Professor Li Quan introduced the changes in the global economy under the background of the new crown pneumonia epidemic and explained the changes in the capital market in detail. By analyzing the short-term Dow Jones index and VIX volatility charts and comparing them with the volatility charts of the same indicators in the long-term, he clearly demonstrated the overall trend and basic trend of world economic development.

Professor Li Quan pointed out that the changes in the Dow Jones Index during the First World War showed that economic stimulus measures provided the possibility for the rapid recovery of the economy under external shocks such as wars. Using the data of World War II and 9/11 as examples, he explained that fiscal policy and economic cycle fluctuations would have a greater impact on the market. He also outlined the global economic background, pointing out the general trend of increasing virtualization of the global economy.


Finally, Li Quan analyzed the path of RMB internationalization. He elaborated on the long-term fluctuations of global currencies with reference to the gold trend, and discussed the internal and external causes of the double cycle, emphasizing the core of double cycle based on the internal cycle.


Before the end of the lecture, Professor Li Quan answered all the questions raised by everyone patiently. The students who attended the meeting said that they had learned a lot, owing to the fact that the lecture broadened their professional horizons and enriched their knowledge reserves.


"Tao Li Forum" is a series of lectures jointly launched by the Undergraduate Teaching Office of the School of Finance, the College Career Development Center, and the Youth League Committee Student Extracurricular Activities Guidance Center for the undergraduate group.


The event focuses on professional theoretical study and industry practice, academic guidance, and alumni career development sharing, etc. It effectively combines the needs of undergraduates' learning and practice to comprehensively help students grow and develop.
