The Omicron variant started to hit north China's Tianjin Municipality, with a population of about 14 million, since early January.

Kwon Osub, a Korean professor of Nankai University signed up as a volunteer and joined the fight against the epidemic with his Chinese colleagues and students.

Kwon, who has lived in China for more than ten years, speaks fluent Chinese and has deep feelings for China.
