About "Bank Weekly"
Recommendation from the Editor
A Transcendent Historical Material of Financial Document
Each issue of "Bank Weekly" provides market conditions not only in Shanghai and the whole country, but also a large number of domestic and foreign financial statistics, and important reference articles. It was the most comprehensive periodical reflecting the development of the financial industry in Shanghai and the whole country at that time. Therefore, it caught the great attention of the society and has become the most appropriate reference book for the financial, academic, and business circles. During the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (the War of Resistance) and the War of Liberation, most of the financial periodicals had ceased publication. It makes it particularly valuable that The Bank Weekly continued to publish regularly and preserved a large amount of precious financial historical materials. For this reason, the "Bank Weekly" has become an important document for academics to study the financial history of the Shanghai area and even the whole country during that period.
Complete Historical Data Presentation
Due to historical reasons, although the "Bank Weekly" had a large circulation at the time, it had not been preserved in a great quantity, not to mention one complete set. This led to great inconvenience to researchers. This time, with the enthusiastic assistance of many large and medium-sized libraries, Zhonghua Book Company and Nanjing Library co-published "The Collection of Financial Periodicals Collected by Nanjing Library in the Republican Period", and finally compiled the entire "Bank Weekly", which benefits the whole academic circle.
