General Secretary Xi Jinping has pointed out that the spirit of school and style of study in a university, just as sunshine and air determine the growth of all things, have a direct impact on students’ learning and growth. This month, the Graduate Student Union of the School of Finance launched a series of activities for the study style construction season of “Encouraging Finance, Innovating, Seeking Knowledge and Practicing”, encouraging the students of the School of Finance to abide by academic ethics and academic integrity in the forms of “Academic Integrity and Academic Ethic Lecture”, “Academic Misconduct Case Exhibition”, “Academic Integrity Promise Wall”, “Academic Style Knowledge Contest” and so on.

Lecture on Academic Ethics and Study Style Standard

On November 18th, the School of Finance held the “Academic Ethic and Study Style Standard Lecture” for all graduate students. The lecture explained the causes, consequences, and types of academic misconduct to students, to improve students’ understanding of academic integrity and academic standards. Afterwards, the lecturer showed the students several standardized citation writing methods of academic papers, hoped that the students would pay attention to the standardized citation format in the future writing process, and suggested that the students reduce their utilitarianism, clarify their reading purpose, develop good learning habits, and do not rely too much on the weight checking software, rather jointly create a good academic environment that abides by academic integrity and academic norms.

Online Academic Norm Commitment

“Carry forward the scientific spirit, abide by academic norms, inherit the excellent study style of Nankai for one hundred years, and strive to become a defender of good academic atmosphere, a practitioner of rigorous research, and a practitioner of good academic ethics.” Counselor Wang Xiaojuan, and the presidium of the Graduate Student Union launched the “Academic Norms” initiative to organize students to study academic norms and make online commitments.

Academic Misconduct Case Exhibition

The graduate association has set up an “Academic Misconduct Case Exhibition” and "Academic Integrity Commitment Wall" on the first floor of the college. The exhibition is divided into three parts: study style construction and code of conduct, academic misconduct cases and academic integrity commitment. By displaying the relevant management regulations of the University, specific cases of paper plagiarism and scientific research fraud and corresponding punishment results, it warns the students to consciously abide by the bottom line of academic ethics, consciously maintain the academic pure land and resist academic misconduct. The students responded and participated enthusiastically, signed their names on the commitment wall one after another, and consciously promised to strictly abide by academic ethics and academic norms.

It is reported that in the future, the Graduate Student Union of the School of Finance will also hold the “Financial Language Full Hall” reading party, academic norm knowledge competition and other activities to further create a good academic atmosphere, let the academic norms and ethics internalize in mind, externalize in practice, strive to be the pioneer in abiding by academic norms and academic ethics.
