The First Seminar on Construction of Ideological and Political Courses of Finance and Offline First-class Undergraduate Curriculum was Successfully Held

On October 23, the first Seminar on the Construction of Ideological and Political Courses of Finance and First-class Offline Undergraduate Course Construction, was successfully co-hosted by First-class Courses Alliance for Financial Education of Chinese Universities (FCCAFE) and School of Finance, Nankai University. Lots of domestic well-known experts and scholars focused on how to better integrate the guidance of values into knowledge imparting and ability cultivation during finance course teaching and to design first-class courses and made multi-level and comprehensive introduction and sharing around problems, including the understanding of curriculum education, curriculum system reform, change teaching methods and the construction of teaching team teaching material. 

At the opening ceremony, after a warm welcome to all attending the meeting, Wang Xinsheng, Vice President of Nankai University, pointed out that the meeting would focus on the construction of ideological and political courses of finance and first-class curriculum, which is an important activity to fully implement important remarks of Secretary-General Xi Jinping on education, especially the requirements of educating people in the whole process and in an all-round way. He also introduced the main achievements and beneficial experience of Nankai University on the subject matter. Li Jianjun, Chairman of FCCAFE, Secretary General of Finance Committee of National Undergraduate Education Steering Committee and Dean of School of Finance, Central University of Finance and Economics, introduced the original intention and background of the seminar preparation, as well as the follow-up work of FCCAFE. 

During the discussion on ideological and political construction of financial courses, Professor Li Jianjun introduced in detail the valuable experience of the national first-class undergraduate course Finance, which insists on the distinctive feature of imperceptible influence” and attaches great importance to the organic integration of the focus of course with ideological and political elements, as well as the teaching method and specific chapter content. Professor Zhu Mengnan, member of applied Economics Assessment Group of The State Council, member of Finance Education Steering Committee of higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, and Vice Dean of School of Economics, Xiamen University, summarized the effective ways of ideological and political education construction of the national first-class undergraduate course International Finance, and pointed out that in the ideological and political education construction, we should not only design the central line, but also find the foothold of the ideological and political education, with digging out the ideological and political elements around students and combining the contribution of China with international current affairs, and cultivate the national pride of students. Professor Meng Hao, member of the Teaching Steering Committee of Finance Major in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education and Vice President of Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, deeply analyzed the shortcomings of the current ideological and political education construction based on the progress made currently and the key requirements of the Outline of Ideological and Political Construction of College Curriculum. He also proposed countermeasures to accelerate the upgrading of ideological and political education construction in the future from a series of innovative perspectives such as discipline chain and ideological and political education of discipline. Professor Shu Jiaxian, Vice Dean of School of Finance, Anhui University of Finance and Economics, made a wonderful sharing about the useful experience during the construction of national first-class undergraduate course Securities Investment. He emphasized that we should create a new situation of ideological and political education construction by the trinity of teaching materials, famous teachers and courses, and comprehensively promote ideological and political education construction by designing a series of first-class courses. 

In the discussion of construction of offline first-class finance courses, Jiang Yunyun, the first batch of directors of nation-level offline first-class undergraduate course Social Insurance and associate professor of School of Economics at Peking University, introduced a series of measures for curriculum construction, emphasizing the importance of guiding values in knowledge transmission, enhancing students' national pride and fostering the spirit of innovation. Professor Wang Ren, Vice Dean of the School of Finance, Hunan University of Technology and Business, centered on the standards of construction, team construction, teaching content design and innovative features of nation-level offline first-class course Insurance. He proposed that attention should be paid on the integration of knowledge, ability, and quality in curriculum construction. Zhang Qiaoyun, who oversees the national first-class undergraduate course Operation and Management of Commercial Banks and professor at Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, re-examined the functional orientation of textbook construction in education. He analyzed the shortcomings of current textbook construction by case analysis and the requirements of finance course and pointed out that curriculum construction should pay equal attention to teaching students the ability to think, read deeply and research deeply. Focused on solving the difficulties in the design of high-quality class, Professor Fan Xiaoyun, Executive Vice Dean of School of Finance, Nankai University, introduced the innovative approach of the national first-class undergraduate course International Finance with many vivid teaching examples, showed the effective way to improve students' creative thinking, train students' critical thinking ability. He systematically summarized the principles, supporting elements and experience of high-quality classroom discussion. 

The conference was broadcast live on the platform of CNKI, and about 8,500 experts, scholars, and faculty representatives from related disciplines of domestic universities attended the conference online. This seminar has set up a communication platform for the construction of ideological and political finance courses and the innovative development of first-class course construction and has also laid a good foundation for the in-depth cooperation of education and teaching reform in the new era between schools.
